PAG Not Chartered to Speak for the Community
A principle underpinning the Governance Arrangements for the Maleny Community Precinct approved in May 2010 by stakeholders who later became the Precinct Advisory Group states that:
"The development of the precinct will be a long term partnership between Council, the community, groups located on the precinct, State Government agencies, local businesses and the broader Maleny community."
This conflicts with the claim, repeated yet again at Council's Information Session on 2 November, that the PAG is chartered to speak for the Maleny community. PAG members themselves unanimously removed a proposed clause from the draft PAG Charter which might have given a different impression (Minutes, May 2011, item c), acknowledging they spoke exclusively for their members, not the community

Green Hills has written to the Mayor politely requesting that Council take note and begin to listen to the broader Maleny community.

At Council’s Information Session, no one from PAG spoke up for the polo field proposal. Green Hills is a member of PAG and in that capacity as well as independently it will always speak up for the environmental vision of the Precinct. At its own meeting and at Council's, audience support for riparian best practice, as championed by Green Hills, received unequivocal and overwhelming support.
